MVL-06B7 plafond is designed to automatically illuminate the interior parts of the property. It is equipped with an active microwave motion sensor, which sends and receives high-frequency electromagnetic waves (5.8GHz).

Motion detection is carried out using the Doppler phenomenon, that is, based on the principle of measuring the differences of waves reflected from a moving object in the set sector of the sensor's visibility (e.g., as a result of the movement of a person located there). If an object appears in the sensor's sector of visibility, the lighting automatically turns on and remains on as long as the motion sensor detects the presence (movement of the object) within the field of "vision". If no presence is detected within a certain (user-set) time, the lighting is automatically turned off. Unlike passive infrared PIR sensors, microwave sensors are better at detecting object movement in the direction from/to the sensor (PIR sensors respond better to object movement across the beam). In general, microwave sensors have much better motion detection compared to PIR motion sensors. They can respond to the movement of an object behind doors, glass, furniture and even thin partitions.

The MVL-06B7 plafond has a built-in set of 20 LED elements shining with neutral-white light, with a total power equal to 10 W. The light output of the lamp is set at 700 lm, which is about 2 times more light than a similar plafond equipped with an ordinary 60 W tungsten bulb.

The plafond is equipped with a special photo-optical sensor and a multi-segment Dip-Switch that allows very precise setting of the lamp's automation, viz:

• sensitivity of the microwave sensor,
• illumination holding time,
• threshold of external illumination,
• lighting dimming time.

The motion sensor transmitter output of the MVL-06B7 plafond emits a high-frequency wave with a power of no more than 0.2mW, which means that the emitted power is practically about 500 times less than the power emitted by cell phones or microwave ovens.
