Causes automatic, temporary switching of light in case of appearance of a person or other object in such places as: corridors, yards, approaches and driveways, garages, etc.
Operation
The passive infraredmotion sensor detects the movement of heat sources located in its area of operation. The important elements affecting the effectiveness of detection are:
- amount of heat emitted by the moving object, ambient temperature,
- the size of the moving object,
- direction and speed of movement.
The effectiveness of a passive motion sensor will be lowest when:
- the temperature of the moving object is close to the ambient temperature (e.g., a sunny room, a radiator in the detection field, etc.),
- the object is moving at a low speed directly towards the passive motion sensor,
- the size of the moving object will be small compared to the area of the detection zone.
improper operation of passive infrared motion sensors, for example, can be caused by:
- Light sources located in the detection field of the passive motion sensor. Turning the light on/off causes a large and rapid change in the temperature of the bulb, which can be interpreted by the passive motion sensor as a moving object.
